Woven in Beauty & Glory!

Guys....

This book was spectacular! Woven In Moonlight by Isabel Ibanez was literally one of my most anticipated reads for 2020. I know that's ridiculous to say considering it was released in late January and there's literally eleven months left in the year but hey! WEIRDER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED! Anyway let me tell you how much I loved this book!

One. I love a fake princess. Ximena being the decoy Contessa is literally one version of my all time favorite tropes. Hands down. I loved when she would drop the facade and let her true self shine through. These plots have to be strongly constructed on else the house of cards can easily fall down. So I enjoyed that Ibanez went big on her debut!

Two. The characters in this book are phenomenal. Each and every one is so wonderfully built with their own unique back story which really gives the plot as a whole a nice shape. Ximena's character has so much growth the longer she spends in enemy territory as well as other minor characters that are touched by her end up changing as well.

Three. I loved the ending of this book where not everything ends up buttoned up all beautiful and resolved. There are still underlying issues and that's alright. Authors like Ibanez who can leave a door open (for possibly future books???) without having to leave the entire story on a cliff hanger are my favorite.

Four. The magic system in this book is simple but so freaking beautiful. Everyone having some sort of unique talent is such a wonderfully minimalistic structure that Ibanez really made into something extraordinary. You can tell how easy it could be for something like this to fall flat but she took it and made it into a whole thing in and of its own.

Five. Not gonna say anything too intense...cause spoilers.... But the love story in this book is adorable and perfect and I loved it so freaking much. That is all.

This book was so stunning in plot, characters and well as just the writing style. Ibanez earned five stars from me because this debut novel is going to set the pace for the rest of her career. And this was an insanely gorgeous and unique first step. This fantasy read clearly separates itself from its new release companies in its simplicity but I think its gonna stand strong as a contender for favorite read for 2020 for a lot of people!

These pages take me places and I cannot wait to see where I go next!

All my love!

Erin
