Murder in The Deep
I'm back for second time today. I'm trying to catch up with all the reviews from September and get them up by the end of the month....Wish me luck! I have this one and at least two more.... possibly three. And I mean man... Ha.
So this review is over Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young. This book was a truly delightful read. Eelyn was a strong female lead who learned and grew through the entire story. I loved her relationship with her brother and the ups and downs that came with it. I grew extremely attached to her as her ideals and beliefs morphed because it came naturally protecting others from a larger issue regardless of clan. That in and of itself felt so raw and wonderful when she protects someone even though they are who she considers to be an enemy. Eelyn was a wonderfully well rounded character who needed to be knocked down a few pegs and shown a few things to reach her true potential. But what I loved most was how warm her personality becomes from the growth.
I love a warring clan battle between two high power groups which was also showcased in this heavily and then the coming together to defeat a common enemy, but.... one of the few things I wasn't a huge fan of fact no one either remembered why the tribes starting warring.... or we're never told which I feel like would have been an important/interesting piece of information to have. I think it might have given the story a little more depth as well as perspective.
I really enjoyed this read from start to end. The relationships were so wonderfully written as well as the battle scenes and background scenes. Young does an amazIng job transporting the reader to the land of the clans. I gave this book 4.5 stars only because I think more background info would be helpful!
